Hi Stuart,
Just an FYI, getting the properties on a "network place" (particularly an SP website) does NOT always provide you with the size. All too often the only properties which appears for the website itself are its Name, Created, and Target metadata fields.
:-|
No "Size", I'm afraid.

Any way to GUARANTEE finding the size of a SharePoint website?
- Mark

No, it has two. The other one is burried under the keyboard. You have to go in from the top to get too it. Very stupid place to put memory, as I fear breaking something every time I crack into it. Just be careful!

See walkthrough available here...

Nice article, I need it. I wonder whether I can create new database instead of AdventureWorksDW?

1.I created new database in SQL 2005 (not a same server with moss) and table with 5 columns.

2.I created ADF file imported to moss.
3.Added Business Data List web part wired to the employee table

No luck I get error "Unable to connect to database Instance in business data list web part"

Any suggestion will be helpful.

Thanks

Thanks, Stuart! Well written! Only thing that tripped me up was permissions on the deployment and connection testing. I normally don't have sysadmin role on our SQL servers. Just happened to have an account on the SQL server I'm playing in that does have sysadm role and ended up using it for the deployment of the cubes. What would be the minimal server role required to deploy these?

@ Alex: it is documented in various Microsoft articles as a required step so I would certainly recommend you carry this out. I wish I could be of more use and tell you what happens if you forget to do so :-)

If you are interested, I have documented a process for migrating from SQL server 2005 to SQL Server 2008 within a MOSS farm over at http://mossblogger.blogspot.com/. Feel free to check it out if it is of interest to you.

Cheers, Ben.

Thanks for the info. It truly met my needs. I copied the .rar file to my VPC from a shared drive and successfully restored the backup. Very frustrating (initially) after a few attempts of restores (probably more so for the customer). I even went out to the customer site to get the backup and that failed but this worked...thanks
